Two sisters. A singular vision.
Jennifer Nathan, a biologist, naturalist and educator, brings her life experience exploring the science of human impact on climate to her place-based oil painting and photography. She expresses a sense of urgency in her art, given evidence of imminent catastrophic harm for ecological systems and those on the frontlines of degraded environments.
Holly Nathan, a journalist, writer and photographer, uses shadow as a powerful symbol in her multi-media explorations of place and belonging in the Lower Mainland. In “UnSettling: A Shadow/Land Project”, she visits local First Nations and faces the unsettling shadow she casts on their territories.
