Profile
Tracy Bijl’s textile sculpture works are expressed observations of concerning issues in the current world climate. Created with great attention to detail and with master hand-workmanship, they can evoke beauty yet unrest. Ms. Bijl’s interest in textiles and costume design began at the age of six in her mother’s sewing studio. Considered a master seamstress, Tracy worked in the fashion industry for 12 years, and attended the Apparel Design program at the University of Manitoba. As well as creating textile sculpture, she has designed costumes for many small musical theatre and opera productions throughout British Columbia. Tracy is also a Lyric Soprano, and has worked in arts programming and management for many years.
