Roxanne Gagnon identifies as an inter-discipline artist who primarily works in clay. Her ceramic works explores the tension between states of clay and relationship to her life struggle of chronic eczema. She likes to explore forms that blur function and sculpture, functions and aesthetics. She graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University majoring in printmaking in 1997 and went on to Emily Carr to obtain her Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2001. Roxanne never thought at the time that she would be working in clay due to her ongoing struggle with eczema, however, the relationship both mentally and physically keeps drawing her in to explore objects of adornment and everyday use. She’s been playing with ways that clay and printmaking come together on the surface of her hand built work.
