Born in Vancouver to very artistic parents, Susan Otto-Bain had everything from a potter’s wheel and looms to a jewelry studio in the house when she was growing up. Originally pursuing a Post Secondary Education and a career in Graphic Arts, Susan learned Airbrushing and took a detour, selling paintings at Stanley Park and various local galleries. Together with her partner Rick, they spent their 20’s designing and producing a line of wearable art, sold in boutiques throughout Western Canada. After a decade of being self-employed artists, they happily settled into careers in management with regular pay cheques, along with marriage, a mortgage and a child. In Susan’s “spare” time she worked towards a mural painting certificate and other creative ventures.
Ten years ago Susan walked into a local glass bead making class and was hooked! After overcoming her fear of the flame (Rick had to light the torch for her for the first few months), she found her passion.
In the past she’s participated in various markets in New West, including the  Farmer’s Market and River Market as well as the Burnaby Blues Festival and BC Creative Jeweler’s Guild Annual shows. For the past few years Susan has stepped away from sales; just having fun learning and creating. Susan is excited about the opportunity to participate in the Culture Crawl and to share her new designs.
